You want to know when your community solar credits will show up. The short answer: after you are active, credits usually appear in one to two billing cycles. Here is the full process, step by step, and why timing can vary.

Check eligibility online

Start by answering a few questions in our secure form. It takes about five minutes. There is nothing to upload. CSR never asks anyone to upload documents on our website. If a project needs something later, we explain it on the call.

When you are ready, use the online form in Check your eligibility at our eligibility page. It helps confirm your utility and address. That way we can match you to a project that serves your area.

Take the call

A CSR representative usually calls within one business day. We confirm your utility, service address, and basic account details. We also answer your questions. Picking up or calling back helps keep things moving.

On the call, we explain exactly what the project needs to enroll you. Requirements can vary by project and by utility. We keep it simple and tell you what to expect.

Get matched to a project with room

Next, we match you to a local community solar project that has room. “Room” means the project has open subscriber capacity. We look at your utility and service area so your credits can apply to your bill. If a project is full, we place you in one that is open.

Project steps and utility steps can affect timing. Some utilities process new enrollments faster than others. Projects also follow their own schedules. Both can change when activation happens.

Review and sign your agreement

Before anything goes live, you review your subscription agreement. Read it closely and ask us any questions. When you are comfortable, you sign to move forward.

Your agreement explains how your subscription supports local solar energy and how credits work on your bill. It also lists key details about the project and your subscription.

Activation and your first credits

After you sign, the project sends your enrollment to your utility. The utility then activates your subscription on your account. The timing for activation varies by utility and by project.

Once your subscription is active, credits usually start within one to two billing cycles. That timing is normal. It depends on your utility’s billing schedule and the project.

Here is the typical flow:

  • Check eligibility online (about five minutes)
  • CSR calls, usually within one business day
  • We match you to a project with room
  • You review and sign your agreement
  • Utility activates your subscription
  • Credits appear in one to two billing cycles after activation

If you have questions about a bill while you wait, see our guide, Your Electric Bill, Explained.

How credits show up on your bill

Depending on your utility and project, you may see:

  • One bill: your community solar credit and your subscription charge appear together. This is sometimes called net crediting or consolidated billing.
  • Two bills: your utility bill shows the community solar credit. A separate subscription bill comes from the provider.

Both setups are normal and depend on your utility and project. For help reading either format, use Your Electric Bill, Explained.

Why credit amounts change through the year

Credit amounts change with the seasons. Solar output is usually highest in the summer and lowest in the winter. That is because daylight hours change through the year. Community solar credits follow the same pattern. More sun means more production and, in turn, more credits. Less sun means fewer credits. This is expected and does not mean anything is wrong with your subscription.

Tips to help avoid delays

A few simple steps can keep your enrollment on track:

  • Watch for our call and email, and reply quickly if we ask for details.
  • Have your utility account number handy during the call.
  • Share your service address exactly as it appears on your utility bill.
  • Read your agreement, then sign as soon as you are ready.

Every enrollment is a little different. Utilities and projects run on their own timelines. If you remember one thing, make it this: after activation, credits usually show up within one to two billing cycles. We will keep you informed as you move through each step.
